This edition of PUZZLE focuses on a main theme of Management of the Knowledge and its transmission in the surroundings of the enterprise organization. The Management of the Knowledge is an enterprise practice that has become in this last decade a tool essential to stimulate the diffusion of the intellectual capital or the information in the company. Similarly, Competitive Intelligence has developed concepts, theories and models to capture the knowledge of the external surroundings. In fact, the two practices have adopted one concept, in some very similar cases, although focused in two different areas. Let us believe nevertheless that the synergy is positive and the capacity to use the two disciplines of intersecting ways allows to obtain a significant advantage for the organization.

With similarity to the previous edition of PUZZLE, the articles treated here emphasize the importance of the thread of the formation as a tool of the transmission of the explicit knowledge to the people who compose the organization. For example, the holístico model developed and proposed by Rodriguez and Gaitán puts in clear evidence the multiple benefits of a colaborative learning within the frame of the formation, all it makes available to the director of Intelligence the possibility of improvement of the competitions, abilities and of the cohesion of the equipment of CI or TW. The second article emphasizes the different experiences in formation that have been developed in the referring centers of education to programs destined to the management of the information.

In order to conclude this edition, the case of the management of Intelligence framed in the scope of small and medium-size companies is exposed. The example puts in evidence the capacity to fit the Management of Knowledge in the scope of Intelligence. In addition, this experience demonstrates that any procedure of CI and TW can perfectly be adapted and be applied to surroundings of enterprise management.

Holistic model for the instruction of Competitive and Technological Intelligence: Integrating collaborative learning, Marisela Rodríguez and Yari C. Gaitán Cortez
September-October, Vol.3, No.13, pp.4-9
- Since the mid-90’s, the area of Competitive Intelligence has increased its diffusion and presence at a world-wide scale. Since then, several efforts have been made to consolidate this subject, departing from new information gathering, analysis and spreading methods; at the same time, there has been an increasing tendency to achieve a specific strategy focusing on global system planning. However, only small progress has been achieved in creative and vanguard teaching models in this area. This document shall propose a Holistic Model for teaching Competitive and Technological Intelligence which integrates teaching techniques known as Collaborative Learning, with roots on the constructivism philosophy.

Post-graduate formation in Information and Documentation, Tomás Baiget and Mari Carmen Marcos
La formación de postgrado en Información y Documentación, Tomás Baiget y Mari Carmen Marcos
September-October, Vol.3, No.13, pp.10-18
- The ample offering of further education courses obliges course organizers to understand the market in order to assure that their content is competitive. To accomplish it they must observe what their competitors are offering and heed the demands of students and the marketplace alike. Certain characteristics of the field of Library and Information Sciences make it more necessary for course co-ordinators to remain as alert as possible to changes in the competition and in market. For example, it is an area whose functions are frequently not well defined; it is not well known or understood by society at large; and its high rate of technology usage requires ongoing training for adapting quickly to change. Two examples are offered of post-graduate courses: “Management of Information and Documentation within Businesses”, offered by the ICT, and the “Online Masters in Digital Documentation” offered by the UPF and IDEC. The article describes how these two courses have adapted to market demands in order to continue providing a competitive service.
